Monstera plants, also known as Swiss cheese plants, have glossy, heart-shaped split leaves which add a touch of tropical elegance to any indoor space. They are easy-to-grow climbers and can be found in many designer spaces, admired for their "wow" factor.
Light Requirements: Monstera plants grow best in bright, indirect or filtered light.
Watering Guidelines: Water Monstera moderately every 1-2 weeks, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent overwatering and root rot. Monsteras can benefit from filtered water or water left out overnight before use.
Soil Preferences: Monstera prefers well-draining potting soil with plenty of organic matter, such as a mix of perlite and pine bark.
Temperature and Humidity: Monstera plants prefer temperatures between 18°C to 29°C and high humidity levels, ideally around 60% to 80%, mimicking their native tropical environment. Consider using a mister or humidifier to boost indoor humidity levels.
Fertilization and Pest Management: Fertilize Monstera monthly during the spring and summer growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Regularly inspect for spider mites or mealybugs and treat with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil.
Monstera plants are toxic to dogs, cats, and humans so be sure to place them out of reach of curious pets and young children.
